The Tiger I was a German heavy tank of World War II that operated beginning in 1942 in Africa and the Soviet Union, usually in independent heavy tank battalions. It gave the German Army its first armored fighting vehicle that mounted the 8.8 cm KwK 36 gun. 1,347 were built between August 1942 and August 1944. After August 1944, the production of the Tiger I was phased out in favour of the Tiger II. While the Tiger I has been called an outstanding design for its time, it has also been called over-engineered, using expensive materials and labour-intensive production methods. In the early period, Tiger was prone to certain types of track failures and breakdowns and was in general limited in range by its high fuel consumption. It was expensive to maintain, but generally mechanically reliable.[14] It was difficult to transport and vulnerable to immobilisation when mud, ice, and snow froze between its overlapping and interleaved Schachtellaufwerk-pattern road wheels, often jamming them solid. This was a problem on the Eastern Front in the muddy rasputitsa season and during periods of extreme cold.[citation needed]The tank was given its nickname "Tiger" by Ferdinand Porsche, and the Roman numeral was added after the Tiger II entered production. The initial designation was Panzerkampfwagen VI Ausführung H (literally "armoured combat vehicle VI version H", abbreviated PzKpfw VI Ausf. H) where 'H' denoted Henschel as the designer/manufacturer. It was classified with ordnance inventory designation Sd. Kfz. 182. The tank was later re-designated as PzKpfw VI Ausf. E in March 1943, with ordnance inventory designation Sd.Kfz. 181. Today, only seven Tiger I tanks survive in museums and private collections worldwide. As of 2021, Tiger 131  at the UK's Tank Museum is the only example restored to running order.

:::: So encyclopedia.warthunder.com is the "database" of the wiki, that is automatically managed, i guess Gaijin provide the images and things ? Or is someone datamining maybe ? i guess that the database didn't received an update since the tech-tree changes. Very interesting. If the database cannot be completed i would be more than happy to provide the missing images. - [[User:U35129386|U35129386]] ([[User talk:U35129386|talk]]) 17:20, 13 July 2023 (UTC)

Missing images for groups

I noticed that a few groups or vehicle were missing the images, i wanted to add those missing as i have the files, but when checking how the templates work, i noticed that the image for other vehicle aren't uploaded at all on the website, is the wiki depending of gzabi's Datamine repository for the images ?

I tried to upload the image for the ostwin 2 but they don't want to "appear" now that they are uploaded.

Hello, thank you for highlighting this issue. The wiki uses its own database for images, which are automatically inserted onto pages. Thus, they cannot be manually uploaded and replaced. We are looking into the issue, and it will hopefully be resolved soon. - DnaGonite (talk) 12:21, 13 July 2023 (UTC)
I have all of the missing images for the german tech tree and i would love to assist. Groups have the "link" but the image doesn't exist, while some vehicle just doesn't have the link, but even if they did the image doesn't exist either. Also i noticed on some user's "custom tech tree" that the images were on the encyclopedia.warthunder.com website, are all images uploaded on the wiki transferred on this website ? Or is it a "privilège" of moderators/high grade member ? - Oshida_BCF (talk) 12:33, 13 July 2023 (UTC)
All images uploaded by users to the wiki are stored on wiki.warthunder.com. encyclopedia.warthunder.com holds images that are uploaded automatically by the wiki backend, such as vehicles' tech tree and statcard images. - DnaGonite (talk) 16:06, 13 July 2023 (UTC)
So encyclopedia.warthunder.com is the "database" of the wiki, that is automatically managed, i guess Gaijin provide the images and things ? Or is someone datamining maybe ? i guess that the database didn't received an update since the tech-tree changes. Very interesting. If the database cannot be completed i would be more than happy to provide the missing images. - Oshida_BCF (talk) 17:20, 13 July 2023 (UTC)
