Bussard (P6114) is a German Type 143 Albatros-class missile bearing fast attack craft. These boats were among the largest vessels of their type at the time. They were designed to attack enemy ships and to defend their shipping and minesweeping forces in the North and Baltic Seas. Ten such boats were produced, all of which were based in Warnemünde.
Bussard was laid down on July 4, 1973; launched on April 14, 1975; and commissioned on August 14, 1976. It participated in Operation Enduring Freedom in the Horn of Africa in 2002 and in Operation Active Endeavor in Gibraltar in 2004. The boat was decommissioned on March 24, 2005, and laid up in Wilhelmshaven. In 2010, the Bussard was sold to Ghana, where it was renamed P38 Yaa Asantewa. It underwent minor modernization, during which all weapons and radar equipment were dismantled, and a single 20 mm gun and navigation radar were installed. The ship was transferred to the Ghanaian Navy in 2012 and the information available suggests it participates in local anti-piracy operations.
Bussard was introduced as one of the rewards for the 2021 Summer Landing event. Unlike its sister ship, it has anti-aircraft machine guns, which, however, are close to being useless. Bussard plays the role of a fairly large artillery boat. This makes it well suited for quickly capturing and defending points against a variety of opponents thanks to its rapid-fire main-caliber guns and good mobility. However, it is quite large and lacks armor.
