The Leopard 2A7HU is a modified version of the German Leopard 2 main battle tank designed for the Hungarian Armed Forces. On December 19, 2018, Krauss-Maffei Wegmann announced that it had signed a contract with the Hungarian government to supply 44 Leopard 2A7HU tanks. These tanks are an updated version of the Leopard 2A7+, featuring enhanced turret protection, a new PERI RTWL commander's sight, and an advanced fire control system. Additionally, the tanks are equipped with a platform for mounting an FN Herstal RWS remotely controlled combat module armed with a 12.7 mm M2 Browning machine gun. The 1st Armored Brigade, based in Tate, is expected to receive all 44 of the ordered tanks.
The Hungarian Leopard 2A7HU was introduced in Update 2.37 "Active Search" as a part of the Italian ground research tree. It combines all the qualities of a main battle tank, including strong turret armor, high-resolution thermal imagers for the gunner and commander; and a powerful 120 mm gun with DM53 APFSDS shells that can penetrate heavy armor. However, the tank weighs 67 tons with the "Mine protection" modification installed, greatly affecting the Leopard's speed and maneuverability.
