To increase the payload of their Lightning and Jaguar warplanes, British designers decided to mount missiles not only under, but also overwing.
Otherwise, there was simply not enough space under the wing, and it was expensive to change it. This was a cheap solution, but it was not without disadvantages: the controllability of the aircraft deteriorated, and it was impossible to jettison a missile if necessary.
Later on with other aircraft, missiles were put on the tips, which did not worsen the characteristics. But in War Thunder you can still see the overwing pylons, just install them on your Jaguar or Lightning F.53!
