The T-34-85 is one of the final modifications of the renowned T-34 tank. It entered service in the spring of 1944 in response to the German medium Pz.Kpfw.V "Panther" and heavy Pz.Kpfw.VI "Tiger" tanks. Its design was based on combat experience from 1943. The tank earned a solid reputation and was used until the end of the Great Patriotic War, as well as in later conflicts.
In the final months of the war, various field modifications of the T-34-85 appeared to be used in urban combat. This was due to Soviet crews increasingly encountering infantry armed with Panzerfaust 60 rocket launchers. To counter this type of weapon, units began adding improvised screens to the T-34, primarily on the sides of the hull and the turret. However, the effectiveness of these screens was questionable, and the practice of armoring tanks was not widespread in the Red Army.
The T-34-85 ('45) was introduced in the Update 2.47, "Leviathans". In terms of appearance and characteristics, this tank resembles other T-34-85 versions in the USSR tech tree, particularly the T-34-85E, due to the aforementioned screens. In addition to the extra protection, the tank features the quick-recognition stripes that were typical of the Berlin operation. It remains a fast tank with weak armor, but it has a powerful and accurate 85mm gun capable of penetrating nearly all tanks at its rank with precise fire.
