The RDF/LT (Rapid Deployment Force Light Tank) is a prototype American light tank. After testing the HSTV-L in 1980, AAI Corporation began developing a new tank to meet the requirements of the Army and Marine Corps. Similar to the HSTV-L, the new tank was to be equipped with a 75 mm XM274 cannon with the ability to engage enemy armored vehicles and aircraft. However, the vehicle was made lighter for air transport. Its suspension was simplified, the automatic loader was expanded to hold 60 shells, and the gas turbine engine was replaced with a diesel engine. Additionally, the commander's position was relocated. In theory, the vehicle could also be equipped with an unmanned turret armed with anti-aircraft missiles. Despite AAI's attempts to create a universal vehicle and redesign it for export, the Army and Navy withdrew from the project in 1982, ending it.
The RDF/LT was introduced in Update 2.43 “Storm Warning”. In many ways, the RDF/LT is a worse version of the HSTV-L. It retains its small size and 75mm gun with increased ammunition capacity. However, the RDF/LT's armor can be penetrated by rifle-caliber machine guns. Its mobility has noticeably worsened. The tank lacks smoke grenades and still has inadequate gun damage.
