The FV107 Scimitar is a British light reconnaissance vehicle (LRV) belonging to the CVR(T) family. As part of the Saladin replacement project in the late 1960s, Alvis designers developed seven variants for different roles. Of these, only two were intended for reconnaissance: the FV101 Scorpion, which was armed with a 75 mm gun, and the FV107 Scimitar, which was notable for its 30 mm cannon. The first Scimitar prototype was completed in 1971, and deliveries to the Army began in 1974. Of the two vehicles, the FV101 was produced more widely, with over 3,000 units built. Production of the FV107, however, was limited to around 600 vehicles. Scimitars are still used by several European countries in various conflicts.
The Scimitar was introduced in Update 2.41 "Firebirds". Its closest analog is the wheeled Fox. Both vehicles are fast and have a small silhouette; but, the Scimitar's tracked chassis performs better in mud and urban terrain. However, the Scimitar has very light armor and may not have sufficiently penetrating ammunition to engage heavily armored tanks.
