General information

The MTB-460 was a 72-foot British motorboat built by the British Power Boat Company (BPB) during World War II. After studying the United States' experience with torpedo boat construction in the late 1930s, BPB decided to build its own 70-foot motorboat. Further development of the project resulted in a 72-foot boat that could be configured as either a torpedo or an artillery boat. Compared to its competitors, it was a fairly successful design: it was easy to build, had excellent seaworthiness, and could carry significantly heavier weapons than Vosper and Thornycroft boats. Outwardly, it resembled the American Elco. The first boat of this type was completed as a gunboat in 1941. From 1943 onward, all boats were built and converted into torpedo boats. Another unusual feature was its use of 450 mm torpedoes instead of the more common 533 mm ones. A total of 78 ships of this type were built, including MTB-460. MTB-460 was ordered on March 12, 1943, and commissioned in 1944. The MTB-460 remained in service until February 14, 1945, when it burned down at the Ostend base in the Netherlands along with 30 other boats.

The MTB-460 was introduced in Update 2.47 "Leviathans". It is similar to the Dark class boats and stands out with its powerful artillery and decent torpedoes. However, it has quite low survivability.
