The M24 Chaffee is an American light tank that was developed by Cadillac in the mid-1940s. Intended to replace the M3 and M5 light tanks, it featured enhanced armament and a more efficient design. A total of 4,415 tanks were assembled between March 1944 and October 1945.
After joining NATO in 1949 and reorganizing its army, Denmark required armored vehicles. Meanwhile, the U.S. and the U.K. were decommissioning their outdated M24 Chaffee tanks and willing to sell them at a low price. Between 1953 and 1957, the Danish government purchased 67 vehicles. The M24s served alongside the Achilles and the M41 Walker Bulldog. The Danish M24s were decommissioned in 1975.
The Danish M24DK was introduced in Update 2.47 "Leviathans" as a part of the Swedish ground research tree. It is a tank with good mobility and a single-plane stabilizer that allows it to effectively play the role of a light tank. However, its armor and survivability are low. The M24DK differs from the American M24 Chaffee only in its camouflage and the crew's personal belongings on the tank.
