The Charioteer Mk VII was a British cruiser tank used by the Finnish Defense Forces. The Finns purchased this tank because their tank brigades were in dire straits. They were mainly armed with obsolete T-26s. Even the more advanced T-34s, Pz.IVs, and StuG IIIs could no longer compete with the latest vehicles of the time. Due to a lack of spare parts, these tanks were idle in military units and used minimally. Initially, in late 1957, the Finnish Ministry of Defense purchased three used Charioteer Mk VII tanks for testing. They performed excellently and proved their worth. Then, in the fall of 1960, the UK sold another 35 vehicles after a major overhaul. The Finnish Self-Defense Forces had a total of 38 tanks in service and used them actively until the late 1970s.
The Finnish Charioteer Mk VII was introduced in Update 2.21 "Fire and Ice" and is located in the Swedish ground research tree. Despite its weak armor, the Charioteer has a powerful 20-pounder gun that can destroy almost any enemy tank head-on. Its decent mobility allows it to quickly take an excellent position to control the enemy's advance.
