In 1955, China acquired six Soviet Beriev Be-6 patrol flying boats for the PLANAF to serve as their main maritime patrol aircraft. These Be-6 were later assigned to the 3rd Aviation Regiment stationed in Qingdao. During the 1970s, due to the lack of spare parts for the Shvetsov ASh-73TK engines, a decision was made by the PLANAF to replace the old engines of the Be-6 with a pair of Weijiang WJ-6 turboprop engines. They were later redesignated the Qing-6 (青-6). The Qing-6 served until 1986, when it was replaced by the domestic Harbin SH-5 flying boat.
Introduced in Update "Tusk Force", the Qing-6 is largely identical to its predecessor, the Soviet Be-6, with two key differences: engines and payload. The Qing-6 is powered by a pair of WJ-6 turboprop engines which, while not increasing the top speed by much, provide a significant boost in acceleration and energy retention. For payload, the Qing-6 carries a set of domestic bombs with noticeably less filler than their Soviet counterparts, though it makes up for this with napalm bombs that can destroy several bases with ease. Much like the Be-6, the Qing-6 is defended by five powerful 23 mm autocannons, although care must be taken not to expose the underside of the aircraft as it presents a huge blind spot that can be exploited.
