The JH-7A2 is a two-seat Chinese fighter-bomber and an upgraded version of the JH-7A. The original "Flying Leopard" was developed in the 1980s and '90s to replace the obsolete H-5 and Q-5. Its upgraded JH-7A variant entered service in the 2000s. In October 2021, the PRC's Ministry of National Defense officially presented the upgraded JH-7A2. The aircraft's expanded range of precision-guided air-to-surface weapons is its key difference. It gained the ability to use KD-88A missiles with TV guidance and new CM-102 anti-radiation missiles. Additionally, it was armed with ARH PL-12 medium-range air-to-air missiles, which significantly improved its defensive capability when operating over the battlefield. The JH-7 continues to serve with the PLAAF and PLANAF as one of China's primary tactical strike aircraft.

The JH-7A2 was introduced in Update 2.57 "Heavy Cavalry". The main difference in its gameplay from that of its predecessor, the JH-7A, is the addition of PL-12 ARH air-to-air missiles. This allows the aircraft to engage aerial targets at medium ranges without maintaining a constant radar lock. It also has an updated suspended armament selection. The aircraft was also equipped with KD-88A missiles and the ability to carry infrared-guided bombs. The aircraft retains good speed at low altitudes and a durable airframe. In mixed battles, the JH-7A2 poses a serious threat to tanks. In air battles, it can effectively attack bases and defend itself against enemy fighters using PL-12 and short-range missiles.
