RN Ghibli was laid down on August 30th, 1942 and launched on February 28th, 1943 at Navalmeccanica Castellammare di Stabia. It was the last ship of the Ciclone-class to be built, originally designed as destroyer escorts but later reclassified as torpedo boats. Delivery to the Regia Marina took place on July 24th, 1943. It was assigned to the VI° Squadriglia Torpediniere, where it operated in the Tyrrhenian Sea and the Ligurian Sea. At the armistice of September 8th, 1943, she was under repair in La Spezia. Admiral Giotto Maraghini, commander of the Dipartimento Militare Marittimo della Spezia, gave the order to move all ships to Italian or Allied territory. As they could not take all the ships away, they were scuttled. The Germans later recovered the RN Ghibli, but the ship's fate was to be refloated on April 24th, 1945. The ship's wreck was retrieved between 1946 and 1947 and sent for scrapping. Formal disbarment from the cadre of military shipping took place by decree of the Provisional Head of State dated March 27th, 1947.
Introduced in Update "Storm Warning", the RN Ghibli is a coastal ship with a destroyer spawn. Its configuration of two 100 mm cannons, four 20 mm twin systems, and two 20 mm single mounts provides good anti-coastal and anti-aircraft defence, but proves lacklustre against bluewater ships. The only somewhat useful armament against bluewater ships is the two twin torpedo launchers on both sides of the ship, but the torpedoes are slow, making them difficult to use effectively. The ship has effective manoeuvrability with good acceleration and can sustain multiple changes of direction without losing much speed. In terms of survivability, it can withstand various types of damage, but will struggle when fighting larger ships.
