The PKM Vilkas (abbreviated from Pėstininkų Kovos Mašina Vilkas, meaning "infantry fighting vehicle" and "wolf" in Lithuanian) is a Lithuanian armored combat vehicle developed in cooperation with ARTEC GmbH based on the German-Dutch IFV Boxer. Development of the Boxer began in 1993 as a joint venture between France and Germany. In 1996, the United Kingdom joined the program. The project aimed to develop a modular combat vehicle platform that could be quickly adapted to various combat tasks. France withdrew from the program in 1999, and the Netherlands joined in 2001. The vehicle entered service with the German army in 2009. In 2015, Lithuania expressed interest in the Boxer and ordered 89 vehicles. The Lithuanian version, designated Vilkas for export, was to include a remotely controlled launcher for Spike-ER ATGMs. The first Vilkas entered Lithuanian service in 2019, with more deliveries expected during the 2020s.
The Vilkas was introduced as one of the rewards for the 2023 "Winter Extreme" event. Thanks to its APFSDS ammunition, the unmanned turret with a 30 mm Bushmaster II autocannon poses a serious threat to light vehicles and sometimes even tanks. Additionally, the Vilkas is equipped with a Spike-ER ATGM launcher capable of striking armored targets and helicopters with fire-and-forget missiles. The Vilkas's composite armor can only defend against small arms fire. However, its mediocre armor prevents the vehicle from operating aggressively on the front lines.
