The Tanque Argentino Mediano 2C (TAM 2C) is a modernized version of the Argentine TAM tank. The Argentine army's research division developed the new TAM 2C, and the modernization was implemented in cooperation with Israeli companies Elbit Systems, IMI, and Tadiran. In 2010, the Argentine Ministry of Defense signed a contract with these companies for the modernization of TAM tanks, planning to upgrade 138 units. The first TAM 2C vehicle was introduced on April 26, 2013, at Argentine Cavalry Day. The main focus of the modernization was the installation of a modern fire control system and the updating of the tank’s electronics, control systems, and commander/gunner optics. These changes significantly improved target engagement effectiveness in various weather conditions and increased the probability of hitting targets.
The TAM 2C was introduced in Update 1.101 "Raining Fire". Like other tanks in this family, the TAM 2C has excellent mobility, weak armor, and decent firepower. Additionally, the TAM 2C is equipped with a high resolution thermal imager, which provides an advantage in detecting enemies at short and long distances. The laser warning system detects when the tank is being targeted or illuminated by a laser designator. The powerful DM63 ammunition is also worth noting; as it can easily penetrate many enemy tanks. However, the TAM 2C remains vulnerable to autocannons and fragments from nearby bomb and rocket explosions.
