The Boxer APC began development in 1993 as a joint venture between Germany and France, with the UK joining the project in 1999 and the Netherlands joining in 2001. Eventually, France withdrew from the project to pursue new domestic designs. The Boxer APC is one of the most widespread modern wheeled APC platforms, featuring a highly modular design that allows for instant conversions by simply switching the rear compartment. The Boxer MGS is a variant of the Boxer APC with the Cockerill Defence 3105 turret equipped with a 105mm high-pressure cannon, developed by John Cockerill. The turret was first shown at Eurosatory 2016; being the 105mm variant of the Cockerill 3000 turret, it is the heaviest armed variant of the turret currently available.
The Boxer MGS was introduced during Update "Dance of Dragons" as a reward for 2024 "Mobile Sniper" event. It features a fast-firing and hard-hitting 105mm autocannon and excellent mobility, making it one of the most versatile light tanks in the game. Despite being a wheeled vehicle, its armour is strong enough to withstand sub-calibre autocannon fire to the front of the hull while being almost immune to HMG fire from the frontal hemisphere of the turret. Target acquisition is also made easy due to the powerful optics with a high-resolution thermal imager for both the commander and gunner.
