The Beaufighter Mk X was a modified version of the British heavy fighter, the Beaufighter, which was developed for the Royal Air Force Coastal Command. Created in 1939, the Beaufighter actively used parts from the Bristol Beaufort bomber in its design. Unlike the Beaufighter Mk VIc, the Mk X was equipped with Hercules XVII engines, which improved its flight characteristics at low altitudes. The aircraft's armament was strengthened with six Browning .303 machine guns, as well as the ability to carry rocket weapons and more powerful bombs. From 1942 to 1945, 2,231 of these aircraft were produced and used by the RAF Coastal Command during World War II as heavy fighters and attack aircraft.
The Beaufighter Mk X has been in the game since the start of the Open Beta Test prior to Update 1.27. Like its predecessor, the aircraft's powerful armament allows it to effectively combat enemy aircraft, though it remains ineffective against naval targets and armored ground vehicles. Its more powerful and diverse suspended armament allows it to destroy even heavy enemy tanks. However, the increased weight of the aircraft, compared to the Mk VIc modification, affects its performance; the Beaufighter Mk X is noticeably inferior in maneuverability and speed.
