The AH-64E Apache Guardian is a variant of the Boeing AH-64 Apache attack helicopter built primarily for the US Army. Initially developed in 2004 as a sub-variant of the AH-64D Apache Longbow designated "AH-64D Block III", it was later classified as its own model in 2012. The AH-64E's main improvements include the new T700-GE-701D engine with upgraded face gear transmission, improved digital connectivity including access to the JTIDS system, and new composite rotor blades. As of January 2025, at least 590 AH-64Es have been produced or converted from the previous model, with several examples being exported to various countries.
Introduced in Update "Tusk Force", the AH-64E features additional IRCM protection and missile options compared to its predecessor. It has the option of using up to sixteen AGM-179 missiles with a range of up to 16 km and either IR or SAL guidance, allowing the AH-64E to comfortably pick off the enemy from safe distances. However, due to the additional IRCM pods being permanently attached to the outermost pylons, the AH-64E can only mount the ATAS anti-air missile on those pylons, effectively cutting its anti-tank capabilities in half.
