The Sovetsky Soyuz can be penetrated by shellfire if its full broadside is facing the enemy. Angling the ship so that the bow turrets are 10-20 degrees off to one side makes the armor virtually impenetrable to enemy fire because the front bulkhead of the Sovetsky Soyuz is very strong (230 mm + 200 mm angled plate). It is always worth sacrificing three guns for this protection, as not angling the ship makes you susceptible to shell room and magazine detonations.
