The M60 AMBT (Affordable Main Battle Tank) is a modernization program for the American M60 main battle tank developed by the Turkish company StandartBio in 2011. The program aimed to maximize performance while keeping costs down. To accomplish this, the M60 was upgraded with a 1,200 hp diesel engine, a modern fire-control system with a ballistic computer and independent sight stabilization, and a new 120 mm smoothbore gun. The tank's protection was slightly improved with the addition of full-length side skirts on the hull and slat armor on the turret. Additionally, the M60 received an electric turret drive, new observation systems, and a 25 mm automatic cannon mounted in the commander’s cupola. The AMBT modernization program aimed to attract foreign operators of the M60 tank in several countries in Africa and Southeast Asia, but it failed to do so.
The M60 AMBT was introduced as one of the rewards in the World War season 3. Thanks to its excellent thermal sight combined with a powerful 120 mm gun, it is well suited for second-line play or flanking maneuvers and can destroy most tanks with a single shot. Its good mobility allows it to quickly take key battlefield positions and catch enemies off guard. However, when choosing positions and engaging in firefights, its mediocre armor must be considered, as it can only protect against HEAT rounds and autocannons up to 30 mm in caliber.
