Due to the increased activity of Schnellboats and Raumboats, which were inflicting significant damage on British coastal convoys, it was proposed that the Fairmile A series of motorboats be modified to correct their shortcomings and turn them into gunboats capable of effectively repelling German boats. The design of the new boat was completed by mid-1940 and designated the Fairmile C.
The MGB-312 motorboat was the first representative of this class. Laid down on August 27, 1940, it entered service on June 16, 1941. It survived the entire war and was decommissioned and sold in October 1945. A total of 24 boats of this series were built.
The Fairmile C (312) was introduced in Update 1.83 "Masters of the Sea". The boat has powerful armament and good speed, but its wooden hull makes it less vulnerable to enemy fire.
