The Leopard 1NO is a version of the German Leopard I main battle tank that was supplied to the Norwegian Army. The Norwegian Armed Forces purchased 78 of these combat vehicles in 1968, and they were delivered between January and July of 1971. They were standard Leopard 1 tanks with the basic modification but had new Diehl D640A tracks, wider road wheels, and an additional track box on the upper front plate.
In 1993, the decision was made to upgrade the existing combat vehicles to the Leopard 1A5 version. As part of the upgrade program, the tanks received a new fire control system from the Leopard 2, a fully electric drive system, and a two-plane gun stabilizer. The modified tanks were designated Leopard 1A5NO; however, they differed from the standard Leopard 1A5 in that they did not receive an additional turret armor package. Additionally, Norway purchased 92 A1A4 tanks from Germany, 33 of which were upgraded to the 1A5 standard with additional armor and an extended turret basket for the crew's personal belongings. This modification was designated the Leopard 1A5NO2. The Norwegian Leopards were used until 2011, when they were replaced entirely by the more advanced Leopard 2.
The Leopard 1A5NO2 was introduced in Update 2.19 "Drone Age". It is a versatile vehicle which can be used effectively in all game modes thanks to its powerful armament, good mobility, thermal sight, and fire control system. However, the tank has extremely weak armor and low survivability.
