The P-47D-30 Thunderbolt was an American fighter aircraft supplied to the Kuomintang after World War II. After the war, the Republic of China Air Force received 102 P-47s of various models from the U.S. 14th Air Force. They were supplemented by around 250 F-47Ns in 1950-1951. These Thunderbolts were used during the Chinese Civil War and, after the Kuomintang’s defeat, formed the backbone of Taiwan’s fighter aviation. They were retired in 1957.

The Chinese P-47D-30 was introduced in Update 1.91 "Night Vision". The “Thunderbolt” is the ideal high-speed fighter in terms of its characteristics: powerful offensive armament, good top speed, excellent handling at high speeds, and a high speed limit. These features allow players to effectively employ the “Boom & Zoom” tactics. Additionally, the P-47D is handful in ground attack thanks to its ability to carry a large number of bombs and rockets. On the other hand, its a heavy plane with a poor climb rate.
