The Leopard 2A4 (PzBtl 123) is a German main battle tank belonging to the 123rd Tank Battalion of the Bundeswehr. During the early 1990s, the battalion was based in Amberg, in the municipality of Kummersbruck, in the Schweppermann barracks. The battalion was equipped with Leopard 2A4 tanks, the most numerous version of the tank. Developed by Krauss-Maffei Wegmann in 1985, the vehicle entered service with the 123rd Battalion in 1990. It remained there until the battalion was disbanded in 1994.
The Leopard 2 (PzBtl 123) was introduced in Update 2.17 "Danger Zone". It stands out due to its excellent mobility and speed, powerful 120 mm Rh 120 L/44 gun, blow-out panels, and composite armor with NERA elements. These features make it a good introduction to the Leopard 2 line; later variants improve upon these aspects with increased firepower and enhanced protection. The main differences from the Leopard 2A4 in the research tree are its absence of self-entrenching equipment and unique forest camouflage.
