Pros and cons
Pros:
- High penetration HEAT round
- HEAT round features decent explosive filler, something uncommon for british vehichle
- HEAT round can overpressure vehichles with thin armour
- Capable of shooting over some obstacles
Cons:
- HEAT round has tendency to somethimes dissaper without doing much damage, simmular to HEAT round from PT-76
- Low muzzle velocity make shooting at long range hard
- Long reload
History
In 1942 a project for a 3.75 inch (95 mm) howitzer was started. Two guns were made, and one of these was chosen for test mounting on a Light Tank Mk VIII "Harry Hopkins" chassis, leading to creation of Harry "Hopkins Mk I CS", later renamed Alecto I.
