This is the section where I lay out the various vehicles I'd like to see in War Thunder some day. With any luck, this section will shrink in the future.

I may or may not come back at a later date and add more information about these vehicles.

Air Forces

Seversky P-35A

608px-Seversky_P-35A_USAF.jpg

Basic Stats
Introduction year: 1937
Crew: 1 (Pilot)
Empty weight: 4,575 lb (2,075 kg)
Powerplant: 1 × Pratt & Whitney R-1830-45 Twin Wasp radial engine, 1,050 hp
Performance
Maximum speed: 290 mph (467 km/h) at 12,000 ft (3,660 m)
Service ceiling: 31,400 ft (9,570 m)
Climb rate: 31.96 f/s (9.74 m/s)
Wing loading: 27.8 lb/ft²
Power-to-mass ratio: 0.172 hp/lb
Armament
Guns: 2 × 0.50 in Browning M2/AN machine guns;
2 × 0.30 in M1919 Browning machine guns
Ammunition load:
Bombs: up to 350 lb (160 kg) of bombs
  • First single-seat USAAC fighter to feature all-metal construction, retractable landing gear, and an enclosed cockpit.

Curtiss A-18 Shrike

640px-Curtiss_A-18.jpg

F2H-3 Banshee

f90ea61cc067d3732a15cae0dbb80273.jpg

Basic Stats
First delivered: 1952
Crew: 1 (Pilot)
Empty weight: 13,183 lb (5,980 kg)
Powerplant: 2 × Westinghouse J34-WE-34 turbojets, 3,250 lbf (14.46 kN) each
Performance
Maximum speed: 580 mph (933 km/h) at sea level
M 0.762
Service ceiling: 46,600 ft (14,205 m)
Climb rate: 100 ft/s (30 m/s) from sea level
Wing loading:
Power-to-mass ratio:
Armament
Guns: 4 × 20 mm (0.79 in) Colt Mk 16 cannon
Ammunition load: 940 total rounds
220 rounds/gun (upper pair)
250 rounds/gun (lower pair)
Payload: 8 × 60 lb High Explosive rockets; or
2 × 60 lb HE rockets and 6 × 500 lb bombs
Missiles: 2 × AIM-9 Sidewinder missiles (only in RCN service)

Differences from the F2H-2 variant in game? Lengthened fuselage, enlarged nose, redesigned tail, increased fuel capacity, and eight underwing weapons pylons for a 3,000 lb bomb payload, as opposed to the 4 x 250 lb or 2 x 500 lb bombloads of the F2H-2. Armed with 4 x Colt Mk 16 cannons (similar to the cannons on the FJ-4B), as opposed to the AN/M3s of the F2H-2. This plane would be an amazing ground attacker. Would love to see it foldered with the F2H‑2.

F3H Demon

640px-McDonnell_F3H-2N_Demon_in_flight_in_1956.jpg

F3H-2 Basic Stats
Introduction year: 1956
Crew: 1 (Pilot)
Empty weight: 21,133 lb (10,040 kg)
Powerplant: 1 × Allison J71-A-2E turbojet
9,700 lbf, dry
14,750 lbf, afterburning
Performance
Maximum speed: 716 mph (1,152 km/h) at sea level
M 0.94
Service ceiling: 35,050 ft (10,683 m)
Climb rate: 213.25 ft/s (65.0 m/s)
Wing loading:
Power-to-mass ratio:
Armament
Guns: 4 × 20 mm (0.79 in) Colt Mk 12 cannons
Ammunition load: 600 total rounds
150 rounds/gun
Missiles: 4 × AIM-9 Sidewinders
Bombs: Up to 6,000 lb (2,721 kg)
  • Built as a successor to the F2H Banshee.
  • Known for it's excellent cockpit visibility.

F3D-2

640px-Skyknight.png

  • Developed from the F3D-1, featuring better engines, wing spoilers, autopilot, and an improved AN/APQ-36 radar.

I'd love to see the F3D-2 added in a folder with the F3D-1. The F3D-1 struggles with being sluggish, and I feel like the extra ~273 kfg from the Westinghouse J34-WE-38 engines would make the Skynight a lot more viable, and would entice a lot more people to play this plane. Plus, it takes the already good radar system found on the F3D-1 and improves upon it, making this likely one of the best night fighters in the game.

F4D-1 Skyray

640px-Douglas_F4D-1_Skyray_of_VMF-115_in_flight%2C_4_April_1957_%28NNAM.1996.253.7328.029%29.jpg

  • One of the earliest jets used by the Thunderbirds, used subsequently to the F-84 and prior to the F-100.

FJ-1 Fury

h5af94r3yk131.jpg

  • The first operational jet aircraft to enter United States Navy service.
  • Wings and canopy derived from the P-51D.

FJ-2/-3 Fury

FJ-2

613px-FJ-2_Fury_VMF-451_parked_in_1954.jpeg

  • Developed in an effort to navalize the F-86 Saber.
  • Completely different airframe from the FJ-1 Fury, despite sharing designations.
FJ-3M

640px-FJ-3M_VF-121_landing_on_USS_Lexington_%28CVA-16%29_1957.jpg

  • The FJ-3 was a further development of the FJ-2, featuring a more powerful engine. This -3M designation indicates that it was equipped to carry AIM-9 Sidewinder missiles.
  • Developed into the FJ-4 Fury, but much like the FJ-2 being dissimilar from the FJ-1, the FJ-4 is also vastly different from the FJ-3.

Vought F-8 Crusader

F-8E_VMF-212_CVA-34_1965_%28cropped%29.jpg

  • The first jet fighter in US service to reach 1,000 mph.
  • Was primarily used during the Vietnam War.
  • Was in active service with the US Navy until 1985, and the US Naval Reserve until 1987 as photo-reconnaissance; a full 30 years after it's introduction.

While the F‑101 Voodoo was designed to carry nuclear payloads in real life, I feel that the cannon-equipped F‑101A would make a fun supersonic jet for War Thunder. Unfortunately, the F‑101A would lack any payload options as none were fitted historically. This would make the F‑101A a dedicated fighter within the confines of the game.

M60A1

HZDTWhG.jpg

Since the M60A1 "D.C.Ariete" was removed from sale and is effectively no longer in the game, I feel that Italy should get a standard tech tree M60A1. Italy produced over 200 of these, and are a significant part of Italy's military history; with the premium gone, the representation is also gone. Italy's tech tree is also pretty sparse anyway, so adding this back into the game in this fashion would be a no brainer. As you can see from the image, you could even give it ERA to differentiate it from the M60A1 "D.C.Ariete" if you wanted.

Gaijin please, give Italy an M60A1!
