These are most effective when being used against small craft such as torpedo boats, motor gunboats, minesweepers and submarine chasers. In its BR class, it is possible to face larger threats including destroyers which will mostly be unharmed by this gunfire. Aircraft are also excellent targets and can be brought down with accurate fire. You can load Universal belt, HE belt or AP belt. Usage of these belts are similar to lower rank boats; Universal is good for start but later you should stick to HE or AP by what kind of target you encounter. Downside of primary armament is that they can overheat if you fire for too long.

This ship is armed with four Mk. 16 torpedoes on its side. They are offset on slight angle so you can't release all four of them at once on one target. Mk.16 torpedo have good speed of 85 km/h and 6.4 km range should be enough for close and mid range combat between islands. True advantage of Mk.16 is 915 kilograms of TNT which is second highest in game and highest used on torpedo boats.

Usage of this boat is similar to Type [[:Type T-38|T-38]]. You have very capable armament against other boats but that's about it. Type 11 is fairly big compared to other boats and mobility isn't its strong side either. Good way to engage opponents is to stay back and use your fairly powerful armament against them. Downside of weapon placement is that if you want to use your maximum firepower you have to show your profile to enemy.  Try to look for islands and corridors where you will be hidden from high caliber long range cannons and ships with big armament that are common on this rank. You should not even try to engage bigger ships with cannons on open space as they will notice you due to your size and can give you critical or fatal damage with single shot. Using torpedoes is very situational. Only way to use them is sneak around islands and give surprise for destroyers that decided to go into boat zone.

In anti-aircraft role you have to rely on yourself as this boat doesn't have any secondary or AA armament. Although Bofors guns can be very effective against airplanes you should focus on ships which are bigger threat for you.

Description

GarageImage Type 11.jpg

The PT-15, Type 11 is a rank II Japanese motor torpedo boat with a battle rating of 3.3 (AB/RB/SB). It was introduced in Update 1.89 "Imperial Navy".

General info

Survivability and armour

Talk about the vehicle's armour. Note the most well-defended and most vulnerable zones, e.g. the ammo magazine. Evaluate the composition of components and assemblies responsible for movement and manoeuvrability. Evaluate the survivability of the primary and secondary armament separately. Don't forget to mention the size of the crew, which plays an important role in fleet mechanics. Save tips for preserving survivability in the "Use in battle" section.

If necessary, use a graphics template to show the most well-protected or most vulnerable points in the armour.

Mobility

Write about the ship’s mobility. Evaluate its power and manoeuvrability, rudder rerouting speed, stopping speed at full tilt, with its maximum forward speed and reverse speed.

Armament

Primary armament

Each Bofors gun is placed on front and back of boat. That mean both of them have big natural blind spot.

Torpedo armament

Main article: Mk.16 (533 mm)

This ship is armed with four Mk. 16 torpedoes on its side. They are offset on slight angle so you can't release all four of them at once on one target. Mk.16 torpedo have good speed of 85 km/h and 6.4 km range should be enough for close and mid range combat between islands. True advantage of Mk.16 is 915 kilograms of TNT which is second highest in game and highest used on torpedo boats.

Usage in battles

Usage of this boat is similar to Type T-38.

Pros and cons

Pros:

  • Primary armament is effective with skill
  • 4 torpedoes with excellent explosive mass

Cons:

  • No secondary or AA weapons
  • Very vulnerable, easy to be one shot by high caliber guns
  • Relative big size to other torpedo boats
  • When using both Bofors guns, the boat will expose its large profile to the enemy

History

Describe the history of the creation and combat usage of the ship in more detail than in the introduction. If the historical reference turns out to be too long, take it to a separate article, taking a link to the article about the vehicle and adding a block "/ History" (example: https://wiki.warthunder.com/(Vehicle-name)/History) and add a link to it here using the main template. Be sure to reference text and sources by using <ref>, as well as adding them at the end of the article.

Media

Excellent additions to the article would be video guides, screenshots from the game, and photos.
