Pros and cons
Pros:
- Access to high-velocity APDS rounds, capable of penetrating the upper frontal plate of a Panther D even at range
- Quick sustained rate of fire - capable of firing a shot every 5.9 seconds
- Great gun depression of -12
- Generous selection of shells - 3 AP shells, 1 HE shell and 1 APDS shell
Cons:
- Lower muzzle velocity and therefore less penetration on the solid shot shells than other tanks armed with the 17-Pounder
- No smoke shells to cover sniper spots or blind enemy tanks
- Poor uncapped stock shell - bounces quite often, has low muzzle velocity and poor penetration figures
- High-explosive shells are not useful against any of the enemies the Comet might face
