History
The FlaK43 was the successor of the FlaK36 and follows a similar design. However, the FlaK43 was redesigned to use the gas-operated breech mechanism of the MK 103 and reduced the man-hours it took to produce. It also has a horizontal feed system positioned inside the oversized trunnions instead of a vertical one, which made the gun lighter. With the FlaK38 proving inadequate at shooting down bombers, they started to be replaced by the FlaK43. In their desperate attempt to repel Allied aircraft, the Germans made two stopgap designs that featured the FlaK43 in the Ostwind and the Möbelwagen.
