Image of the L8A2, variant of the L8A1 with an improved feed mechanism for the ammunition. The L8A1 is a variant of the L7A1 which was modified to be mounted in armoured fighting vehicles (AFV). This variant features no butt-stock, barrel fume extractor and solenoid actuated trigger. There was a folding pistol grip, however, this was only used in emergencies when the machine gun was removed from its place at the upper hatch. This image of the L8A2 is shown mounted on the Challenger Mk.2 tank.
