Description

The 94 ft PT-811 is a gift rank IV American motor torpedo boat with a battle rating of 3.7 (AB/RB/SB). It was introduced during Update 1.95 "Northern Wind" in the Operation F.R.O.S.T. event

General info

Survivability and armour

Talk about the vehicle's armour. Note the most well-defended and most vulnerable zones, e.g. the ammo magazine. Evaluate the composition of components and assemblies responsible for movement and manoeuvrability. Evaluate the survivability of the primary and secondary armaments separately. Don't forget to mention the size of the crew, which plays an important role in fleet mechanics. Save tips on preserving survivability for the "Usage in battles" section. If necessary, use a graphical template to show the most well-protected or most vulnerable points in the armour.

Mobility

Write about the ship's mobility. Evaluate its power and manoeuvrability, rudder rerouting speed, stopping speed at full tilt, with its maximum forward and reverse speed.

Armament

Primary armament

Provide information about the characteristics of the primary armament. Evaluate their efficacy in battle based on their reload speed, ballistics and the capacity of their shells. Add a link to the main article about the weapon: {main|Weapon name (calibre)}. Broadly describe the ammunition available for the primary armament, and provide recommendations on how to use it and which ammunition to choose.

Secondary armament

Some ships are fitted with weapons of various calibres. Secondary armaments are defined as weapons chosen with the control Select secondary weapon. Evaluate the secondary armaments and give advice on how to use them. Describe the ammunition available for the secondary armament. Provide recommendations on how to use them and which ammunition to choose. Remember that any anti-air armament, even heavy calibre weapons, belong in the next section. If there is no secondary armament, remove this section.

Anti-aircraft armament

Main article: Mk 2 mortar

An important part of the ship's armament responsible for air defence. Anti-aircraft armament is defined by the weapon chosen with the control Select anti-aircraft weapons. Talk about the ship's anti-air cannons and machine guns, the number of guns and their positions, their effective range, and about their overall effectiveness – including against surface targets. If there are no anti-aircraft armaments, remove this section.

Torpedo armament

Main article: Mk.13 (569 mm)

Torpedoes launchers are standard equipment on many ships and boats. Torpedoes are a significant means of defeating an opponent. Evaluate the position of the torpedo launchers, discuss the ammunition available, firing specifics such as dead zones, features of the torpedoes themselves, etc. If there is no torpedo armament, remove this section.

Usage in battles

Describe the technique of using this ship, the characteristics of her use in a team and tips on strategy. Abstain from writing an entire guide – don't try to provide a single point of view, but give the reader food for thought. Talk about the most dangerous opponents for this vehicle and provide recommendations on fighting them. If necessary, note the specifics of playing with this vehicle in various modes (AB, RB, SB).

Pros and cons

Summarize and briefly evaluate the vehicle in terms of its characteristics and combat effectiveness. Mark its pros and cons in the bulleted list. Try not to use more than 6 points for each of the characteristics. Avoid using categorical definitions such as "bad", "good" and the like - use substitutions with softer forms such as "inadequate" and "effective".

Pros:

  1. SPEED! - With a max speed of almost 140 km/h, this thing goes fast and rivals the speed of first tier boats and is the fastest boat in the American Boat Tree. No questions asked this is the sonic of the American boat tech tree, so use it as if you're supersonic blue hedgehog and flank battleships (abundant with the 3.7 B.R.) by ideally attacking from behind or behind their turrets. Your speed also favors you with small arms fire too since opposing boats (and especially battleships) will take a little bit more time to lock their aim on you if not experienced enough (this can apply to you as well if inexperienced at attacking other boats at high speeds). However, don't rely this as your saving grace, once they lock onto you they can hit hard especially if it's a battleship. The best thing you can do with this speed however is to rush the furthest point and give your team the edge.
  2. TWO (useful) DUAL MACHINE GUNS - Don't get me wrong, machine guns are great but these dual .50 machine guns on this boat are excellent tool in tackling other boats (especially torpedo boats). This boat has one dual machine gun at the top right and one at the bottom left, but they can both fire their guns on the same easily with fairly big arcs as long as you're firing to the right and going circles around enemies. These machine guns are great but they don't cut the job when attacking enemies to the left because the top right machine gun gets blocked by the mortar canon on the left, but this wont matter much as long as you land your 20mm cannon shots on the enemy (which magically jams slower).
  3. MORTARS INCLUDED - I may have played this PT boat I have not found a great use about this weapon. However other players may have used this to destroy torpedo boats with ease and harass destroyers with it. Other than that I don't have the experience with to tell anything about this (someone do this for me). However it does appear to share with the machine guns' MASSIVE firing arc, so if you know how to use this weapon to the highest extent, use it.
  4. I'M BULLETPROOOOOOOF (not exactly) - Just like the term bulletproof this thing may take up more bullets but it's not bullet resistant (which battleships have extensively, making machine gun fire on them useless). However with less armor thickness than the average PT boat this boat makes that up by what that 10mm thick hull consists of, STEEL. Having steel makes your boat more resistant to any machine gun fire because you can legitimately ricochet bullets. With this account, you can resist angled machine gun fire at a moderate level, assuming the other boat is a brain-dead machine gun torpedo boat and not a F*KIN BATTLESHIP (and I will keep emphasizing this).
  5. (add anything here)
  6. (Add anything here THAT'S RELEVANT)

Cons:

  1. YOU'RE A F**KING ROCKET-POWERED TIN CAN - I'm not shitposting here but it's the fucking truth, that 10mm of steel I (same guy who wrote bulletproof) mentioned earlier wont make you a battleship. Yes having this type of armor is beneficial but it doesn't do justice, you are still are PT boat which means you still have to the unofficial rules a PT may have, which means no going Rambo the other team. You may be fast and mean, but you're broken in between. And breaking in half you will see a lot of because holy shit you will get blown to bits by them A LOT! Which leads to the next point.
  2. YOU ARE BATTLESHIP CANNON FODDER - By attacking the furthest point you signed a contract to be a moving target like always however with a B.R. of 3.7 you will see destroyers. Additionally if you are very unlucky, you will encounter a metric F**K-TON of battleships, all of them which will also barrage you with maelstrom of shells at your little boats. As a result, most of the time you will get sawed in half by battleship Phil Swifts that the destroyers bring. In addition to that sometime you can get ambushed by these battleships from afar by experienced destroyers in one shot, ONE SHOT, meaning that you will have no warning to react when attacking the furthest point.

History

Describe the history of the creation and combat usage of the ship in more detail than in the introduction. If the historical reference turns out to be too long, take it to a separate article, taking a link to the article about the ship and adding a block "/History" (example: https://wiki.warthunder.com/(Ship-name)/History) and add a link to it here using the main template. Be sure to reference text and sources by using <ref></ref>, as well as adding them at the end of the article with <references />. This section may also include the ship's dev blog entry (if applicable) and the in-game encyclopedia description (under === In-game description ===, also if applicable).

Media

Excellent additions to the article would be video guides, screenshots from the game, and photos.
