Talk about the vehicle's armour. Note the most well-defended and most vulnerable zones, e.g. the ammo magazine. Evaluate the composition of components and assemblies responsible for movement and manoeuvrability. Evaluate the survivability of the primary and secondary armaments separately. Don't forget to mention the size of the crew, which plays an important role in fleet mechanics. Save tips on preserving survivability for the "Usage in battles" section. If necessary, use a graphical template to show the most well-protected or most vulnerable points in the armour.

Armament

Primary armament

2 х Turret2 x 4.5 inch/45 QF Mark V cannon
Ammunition600 rounds
Vertical guidance-15° / 85°

Provide information about the characteristics of the primary armament. Evaluate their efficacy in battle based on their reload speed, ballistics and the capacity of their shells. Add a link to the main article about the weapon: {{main|Weapon name (calibre)}}. Broadly describe the ammunition available for the primary armament, and provide recommendations on how to use it and which ammunition to choose.

Secondary armament

Turret2 x 40 mm QF STAAG Mark II gun
Ammunition4000 rounds
Belt capacity4 rounds
Fire rate156 shots/min

Some ships are fitted with weapons of various calibres. Secondary armaments are defined as weapons chosen with the control Select secondary weapon. Evaluate the secondary armaments and give advice on how to use them. Describe the ammunition available for the secondary armament. Provide recommendations on how to use them and which ammunition to choose. Remember that any anti-air armament, even heavy calibre weapons, belong in the next section. If there is no secondary armament, remove this section.

Usage in battles

Currently HMS Leopard is experiencing a bug which affects the turret located on the bow. There is a visual component which causes one of the barrels in the twin turret to always point directly at 12 o'clock dead center of the bow, it clips through the sides of the turret regardless where the player directs the turret to aim. That would be a minor annoyance on it's own but somehow this bug also affects the performance of the separate guns in the twin turret. The port barrel in the bow turret seems to fire considerably higher and sooner than the starboard barrel in the same turret. So much so in fact that more often than not only one shell fired from the twin guns in this turret will hit the intended target if it is any distance at all from the HMS Leopard. For instance this can be replicated in the test drive by firing at the destroyer approx. 4.8km away. This is rather unfortunate as the HMS Leopard already requires a very large amount of RP to unlock and almost 1 million SL to purchase. Meaning as of right now most players will probably simply forego the expense and just leave it sitting there in the tech tree un-purchased.

Pros and cons

Pros:

  • Two QF 4.5in cannons, located at the aft and bow of the ship
  • Raised QF STAAG AA mount near the center of the boat
  • Bridge is hidden behind the bow's cannon
  • Access to HE-VT shells
  • Large compliment of crew
  • Eight (separate) engine blocks, allowing for lasting mobility in combat scenarios.

Cons:

  • Poor max speed compared to frigate's cousin, HMS Blackpool
  • No torpedoes or other specialised high-explosives
  • High repair cost demands a cautious play-style
  • Ammunition for the STAAG and aft cannon are located in close proximity to each other

History

Describe the history of the creation and combat usage of the ship in more detail than in the introduction. If the historical reference turns out to be too long, take it to a separate article, taking a link to the article about the ship and adding a block "/History" (example: https://wiki.warthunder.com/(Ship-name)/History) and add a link to it here using the main template. Be sure to reference text and sources by using <ref></ref>, as well as adding them at the end of the article with <references />. This section may also include the ship's dev blog entry (if applicable) and the in-game encyclopedia description (under === In-game description ===, also if applicable).

Media

Excellent additions to the article would be video guides, screenshots from the game, and photos.
