The few scenarios where you might use this depth charge all involve being very close to the enemy vessel.

There are a few areas where you might use this depth charge:

1: These are also quite effective at causing major damage to smaller ships if they are quite close. They do not usually outright kill it but usually makes it inoperable. If possible knock out its propeller with these then finish it off with your bigger guns once you get far enough away to shoot it

2: if a floatplane is trying to capture a point these are very effective at destroying it when landed
