Pros and cons
Pros:
- Can perform both level and dive bomber effectively
- Can play both safe and steady or high-risk high reward playstyle
- Defensive armament is often underestimated by foes
- Amazing maximum payload of 4,000 kg
- Very easy to fly and to land
- Can carry torpedoes
- Good energy retention
- Fast landing gear deployment
- Can be very difficult to catch once it reaches a high altitude
- Fast aircraft, becomes even faster with upgrades installed
- Very fast once the payload is dropped
- Airframe can withstand high speed
- Maneuverable just like it's heavy fighter variants
- Faster than the M model
- Can decimate enemy ground units in seconds when played in groups
- One of the few bombers that can effectively be played in tank RB matches
Cons:
- Defensive armament is unreliable and will not deter foes from attacking you
- Not very durable
- Carrying the 4,000 kg payload will add external pylons which will increase drag
- Carrying the 4,000 kg payload will significantly reduce speed and performance
- Carrying the 4,000 kg payload will reduce the climb rate into a crawl
- Torpedoes cannot be launched at high speed which is its main strength
- Stock payload is terrible
- Only one pilot
- Lacks any offensive armament of the E variants
- Cramped cockpit and poor pilot protection
- Tail design creates blind spots to the already underwhelming defensive armaments
- Has a high potential of being a priority target
History
Describe the history of the creation and combat usage of the aircraft in more detail than in the introduction. If the historical reference turns out to be too big, take it to a separate article, taking a link to an article about the vehicle and adding a block "/ historical reference" (example: https://wiki.warthunder.com/Name-vehicles/historical reference) and add a link to it here using the main
template. Be sure to include links to sources at the end of the article.
Media
An excellent addition to the article will be video guides, as well as screenshots from the game and photos.
