Survivability and armour
- 38 mm Bulletproof glass in front of pilot.
- 6.35 mm Steel plates behind pilot.
- 3 mm Steel plates on fuselage top in front of cockpit.

Armaments
Offensive armament
The F6F-5N (France) is armed with:
- 2 x 20 mm AN/M2 cannon, wing-mounted (231 rpg = 462 total)
- 4 x 12.7 mm M2 Browning machine gun, wing-mounted (400 rpg = 1,600 total)
The four machine guns and both cannons are arranged in bundles of two machine guns and one cannon mounted in each wing. Each cannon is armed with the same amount of ammo and the machine guns are each armed with the same amount of machine gun ammo, which means that all guns of each type will will fire with each other until empty (however if fired in unison, the cannons will run out of ammo before the machine guns will).
Suspended armament
The F6F-5N (France) can have external pylons loaded with:
- Without load
- 6 x HVAR rockets
- 2 x Tiny Tim rockets
- 2 x 1000 lb AN-M65A1 bombs
- 6 x HVAR rockets + 2 x 1000 lb AN-M65A1 bombs
- 1 x 2216 lb Mk.13/44 torpedo

Pros and cons
Summarize and briefly evaluate the vehicle in terms of its characteristics and combat effectiveness. Mark its pros and cons in the bulleted list. Do not use more than 6 points for each of the characteristics. Avoid using categorical definitions such as "bad", "good" and the like - they have a substitution in the form of softer "inadequate", "effective".
Pros:
- Has cannons
- Great payload options with rockets and bombs like the normal F6F-5
Cons:
- Slower than F6F-5
- Heavy aircraft plus ordinance poses challenges in climbing
History
Describe the history of the creation and combat usage of the aircraft in more detail than in the introduction. If the historical reference turns out to be too big, take it to a separate article, taking a link to an article about the vehicle and adding a block "/ historical reference" (example: https://wiki.warthunder.com/Name-vehicles/historical reference) and add a link to it here using the main
template. Be sure to include links to sources at the end of the article.
Media
An excellent addition to the article will be video guides, as well as screenshots from the game and photos.
