Break
The name is a rank rank American motor gunboat Battle-rating. It was introduced in Update 1.79 "Project X" as part of the fleet closed beta test.

General info
Survivability and armour
The boat's hull and superstructure are made of wood (40 mm and 15 mm respectively), the Bofors L/60 Mk 3 cannons have a 9.52 mm shield and the hull-mounted AN-M2 machine guns have a 12.7 mm shield, the elevated AN-M2s don't have any gun shield.

Despite this lack of armor, the PT-59 has enough firepower to outmatch most boats at its Battle Rating(3.0), however engaging more than 2 boats at once without having friendly support isn't recommended, you should also be careful when going against armored gunboats and boats with much bigger crews.

Mobility
The PT-59 is powered by 3 Packard V12 M2500 engines, It takes around 14 seconds to reach full speed (AB: 97 km/h, 60 mph)(RB: 72 km/h, 45 mph) and 18 seconds to stop, it takes 10 seconds to reach full speed in reverse (AB: -34 km/h, -21 mph)(RB -25 km/h, -16 mph), and a full 360 turn takes around 18 seconds in AB (around 24 seconds in RB).

Armament
Primary armament
Bofors L/60 Mark 3 (40 mm)

The Bofors cannons takes around 10 seconds to do a full 360 degree turn, The bow cannon is limited to a 190 degree range and the cannon at the aft is limited to 280 degrees, the cannons overheat after firing for 15 to 17 second consecutively, the cannons become almost ineffective at ranges above 2Km(1.25Mi, 6560ft).

;Available Ammunition

* Universal: AP-T/HEFI-T/AP-T/HEFI-T (The Universal belt is the starting of ammunition , its pretty much good against anything but it may not be too good against armored gunboats.)
* 40mm HE clips: HEFI-T/HEFI-T/HEFI-T/AP-T (The HE clips is good against boats with little armor and planes.)
* 40mm AP clips: AP-T/HEFI-T/HEFI-T/HEFI-T (The AP clips is better suited to go against armored gunboats and harassing destroyers since the ammo may not be enough to take down a destroyer.)

Secondary armament
AN-M2 (12.7 mm)

The AN- M2 machine guns can fire until they run out of ammo, overall these are mostly used against smaller boats and planes, mostly ineffective at ranges above 1Km (0.62Mi, 3280ft).

;Available Ammunition

* Universal: API-T/AP/I/AP
* .50 AP belt: API-T/AP/AP/AP
* .50APIT belt: API-T/API-T/API-T/I

Usage in battles
There are multiple ways to play this vehicle

Ambush tactics

The strategy requires the player to use the mobility of the boat to get to a strategic position of the map before other enemies are able to reach that place. Typically this would be hiding behind a island or a static objects on the map. Position the boat perpendicular to the object in front of you. This allows you to have the full broadside of you 40 mm Bofors cannons and, if needed, your .50 caliber machine guns. This takes advantage of your excellent speed and negates the lack of amour and poor survivability. Lots of unsuspecting players will not be able to outgun you, allowing for easy pickings.

Speedy attacks

This tactic is able to be employed by should only be used if needed, e.g. capturing a zone or harassing larger vessels. You will want to accelerate to full speed and zigzag you way through enemy fire, it is paramount that you do not slow down. When close to a enemy ship you can deploy your smoke, open your full broadside and fire into the enemy ship, then making a hasty retreat. When capturing a zone (this is not advisable) you want to deploy your smoke and try to conceal yourself, as soon as the zone is captured, like above making a hasty retreat.

Treats against this ship

SF 40 leichte

The SF 40 leichte is one of the most dangerous enemies against you. Armed with four 4x20mm turrets and having very good survivability with spaced turrets. One salvo from this vessel and you will be sent back to the hangar. Since it has a battle rating of 2.7, it will be quite common to see these and most of the times you will be engaging this vessel at long range due to its poor speed. To combat this. There are 2 options: run or push with friendlies.

Due to its poor speed you can easily disengage or relocate to a better position to snipe at it with you 40 mm as your guns have better range and the SF 40 leichte is quite a late target.

The second option is to push with friendlies. This option is more risky, but is a quick and effective way do dealing with it. If you are able to surprise it and catch it between reloads and disable the turrets, or can be dispatched quickly. However, its superior firepower at close range will one-shot you with one salvo.

Kanonenboot K-2 (German)/ Syonan (Japanese)

These 2 vessels are quite similar, having two 120mm cannons and multiple smaller caliber guns, it can quickly dispatch you. Lacking torpedoes and your HE rounds having trouble penetrating the hull, this vessel can become quite a pain. Most of the time you friendlies will see this large vessel and may be able to damage it enough for you to get the final blow or for you to relocate to a new position. However is the case that you are faced in a 1v1. You best option is to try to outflank it. Running away will most likely result in your death as its two 120 mm guns will easily catch you, even at long distances. The first module to aim for when outflanking or the engine or the turrets, thus making it easier to outflank.

Pros and cons
Pros:

* The ships 12.7 mm machine guns can easily destroy lightly armoured ships
* The 2 x 40 mm Bofors guns are great for taking out other ships and can act as decent anti-aircraft guns as well
* Its speed allows it to quickly move from one area of the map to another, making it a great vehicle for ambushing larger, less nimble ships

Cons:

* No armour leads to frequent incapacitations of modules and crew
* A smaller crew in combination with a small size leads to a lower survivability
* Threatened by dive-bombing aircraft

The name is a rank rank American naval jet fighter Battle-rating. It was introduced in Update 1.37.

The Panther will typically find itself outclassed as it often faces against more advanced jet designs, such as the MiG-15 or Venom. However, it does excel in a support fighter role. Distracted opponents are easy prey when the Panther's high speed diving and maneuverability are applied correctly . When engaged 1 on 1 with other jet fighters, its flaws (low top speed) can be exposed. Defensively, the Panther has a uncanny ability to escape pursuing enemies when using its agility to your advantage. The Panther greatly excels at the Fighter-bomber role due to it's optional payloads.
The Panther was born during a time when the jet engine was beginning to make its appearance into service. The United States Navy commissioned a jet-powered fighter for its carrier decks. Grumman began work on the XF9F-1 Prototype (Grumman designation G75). The air-frame would carry two crewman and implement four turbojet engines. At the time, four of them were planned to be used due to the low power output by early turbojet engines. This ran into several issues including taking up too much space on American carriers. Eventually the design was dropped in favor of the XF9F-2 prototype, Grumman's Model G79, that utilized 1 crew member and eventually a single engine. The British Rolls-Royce Nene turbojet engine was used for basic testing. Pratt & Whitney were eventually able to produce the engine and it was designated "J42". As the Panther moved along the creation process, items like wingtip fuel tanks were added to increase its range. Carrier trials with the prototypes were completed in March of 1949. The F9F-2 entered US Navy service in May of 1949.

The F9F-2 is the first production variant of the Panther. It is powered by a Pratt & Whitney J42-P-8, a license-built version of the Rolls Royce Nene engine. The F9F-2B was a new variant of the F9F-2 which allowed it to carry 2,000 lbs of ordinance under its wings. Once all F9F-2s were upgraded to the B standard, the B designation was dropped and the aircraft were simply referred to as F9F-2.

The Panther entered combat during the Korean War. It was the primary jet fighter used by the U.S. Navy and Marines. It played a significant part in the ground attack role and flew over 78,000 sorties. It secured the first U.S. Naval air to air kill against a Yak-9. Famous F9F pilots included astronaut John Glenn and Boston Red Sox player Ted Williams. Panthers were pulled from front-line service in 1956 in favor of the swept wing "Cougar". F9F Panther were the first jet used with the US Navy's Blue Angels aerobatic team.
The baseline Panther has very poor performance, losing a lot of speed in turns and having poor acceleration. Once the aircraft has been upgraded, it is a very powerful fighter. Its decent climb rate and 20mm guns make the aircraft best for Boom and Zoom tactics. The aircraft has a poor top speed, making it vulnerable to enemy F-86s and MiGs flying at higher altitudes.

The Panther will typically find itself outclassed.

Ingame description
The F9F Panther was a fighter-bomber developed by the Grumman Aircraft Engineering Corporation and used during the Korean War by the US Navy and USMC. It was also the first aircraft used by the Navy's Blue Angels aerial demonstration team.

The project started after World War II when Grumman proposed the XF9F-1 experimental aircraft (Grumman designation G75), a two-seat, four-engined aircraft for a contract to build a jet-powered night fighter for the US Navy. The company lost to the Douglas XF3D-1, but received funding to continue development of the XF9F. After jet technologies evolved to create engines with higher thrust, Grumman designed the Model G79, a single-engined day fighter. When the Navy realized the potential of this new design, they shifted funding towards the G79, which became the F9F Panther. Permanent fuel tanks were added to the wingtips to extend the range of the thirsty jet, but the added weight incidentally improved the aircraft's roll rate.

The F9F-5 is the last and most produced variant of the Panther. It is a further development of the F9F-4, which lengthened the fuselage to carry more fuel. The F9F-5 was re-engined with the Pratt & Whitney J48 engine, a license-built version of the Rolls-Royce Tay engine. The Panther was later developed into the F9 Cougar, a swept-wing aircraft with significantly more thrust.
If necessary, note the specifics of the game in different modes (AB, RB, SB). -->
First of your objective when you purchase this plane is to research as fast as you can the 20 mm cannons modifications. The F9F-8 default cannons get jammed in a quick burst.

This said don’t expect to defeat MiG-15 and MiG-17A very easily. The F9F-8 performs great defensing maneuvers and can keep up in turns with the MiGs (beware that doesn’t have the great acceleration that MiGs have).

This is not an air superiority aircraft, its main purpose is to support ground vehicles and planes.

The best tactics if you are new to this plane is to fly it like a F9F-2 or F9F-5 so stay near some allies and give them support.

* Never roll too hard over 750 km\h (466 mph) or the wings will explode
* Never execute maneuvers over –2 G or the wings will explode

Pros:

* Good bombload options
* Four 20 mm cannons can shred enemy aircraft and light ground targets
* Slightly better top speed than on the F9F Panther
* Can equip with AIM-9 Sidewinder guided missiles
* Good roll rate over 800 kph (497 mph)
* Faster than its predecessors

Cons:

* Bad turn time overall; even the Hawker Hunter can turn tighter in some scenarios
* Top speed is not great but is not terrible either
* Can't equip rockets
* Cannot turn over -2G
* Rips very very easily in turns and rolls
* Not good at retaining energy, have to be very strict in order to keep it
* Poor acceleration
* Guns tend to jam quickly without New 20 mm upgrade

It was Grumman's engineers who first thought of developing their successful F9F Panther fighter into a swept-wing variant. The resulting Cougar was a very new design in many ways bucking post-war design trends. The fuselage, fin and rudder remained the same, however, the wings were completely new with a 35-degree sweep and lacking the distinctive wingtip tanks of the Panther. The engine was also an upgrade, a Pratt and Whitney J48 with an extra 1,000 kg of thrust over the previous J42. First flight was 20 September 1951, with operational trials starting three months later. Squadron deliveries began in November 1952. 706 F9F-6s with the original engine were produced, and 168 of the F9F-7 which used the Allison J33 turbojet instead.

The F9F-8 was the final version. Its prototype's first flight was December 1953. In this model, the fuselage was lengthened 30 cm to increase the space for fuel tanks. It had the J48-P-8 engines installed that gave it a total of 3,447kg of Thrust, the wings were also modified slightly to add an in-air refuelling probe plus the capability of mounting four Aim-9 sidewinders and a nose radar was fitted. In total, 601 F9F-8s were built.

The F9F-8 was too late to see combat in Korea, however, there were four trainer versions of the F9F-8 (F9F-8T) deployed to Vietnam and was used in airstrike directing for incoming allied aircraft.

The Argentine Navy was the only other nation to operate the F9F-8 and was the first jet aircraft that they ever had capable of breaking the sound barrier (In a dive).

It is also worth noting that the F9F-8 was redesignated, as part of the United States Tri-Service Designation System, to the F-9J in 1962.
General info
Flight Performance
The PAGENAME like many of the first line variants of an aircraft promises the world but does not fully live up to the promise, which is accurate for the Sabrejet. Outfitted with the General Electric J47-GE-13 jet engine, the PAGENAME struggles to climb to attack altitude and overall accelerate to sufficient attack speed. However, once the PAGENAME is at a good perching altitude, it can use its weight and manoeuvrability to Boom & Zoom other aircraft. This aircraft will not win many speed races against contemporary aircraft, however, with its speed, it can get in and out of a fight in a hurry and set up for another run. While the fighter is very agile when it comes to rolling, attempting to turn the aircraft results in a significant loss of speed. During this time, the wing’s leading edge slats extend and help the fighter make tighter turns, however, sustained turns will bleed all of the fighter’s energy, leaving it flying slow, an easy target for enemy aircraft.

One place where a slower PAGENAME actually has an advantage is in the ground bombing role as the the leading edge wing slats will help the maneuverability of the aircraft while lining up a bombing run with either 2,000 lbs of bombs or 16 HVAR rockets which can be unleashed from a stable weapons platform. When engaging ground targets, the trick is to get in and get out as quick as possible, because when flying low and slow, there is not much room for error and enemy fighters will be on the look out for aircraft on the deck without much room to maneuver. During bombing runs, reserve WEP power as a backup for departing the area. Once any external payload ordinances have been released, the PAGENAME can resume its role as an interceptor.

The F-86A-5 should be played as a strict Boom & Zoom plane due to the fact that simple turns make it bleed a lot of speed. Gain some speed after takeoff (750 - 800 kph or 466 - 497 mph) then zoom up to 3,000 m/9,843 ft then turn to the centre after you're done zoom side-climbing. Next, you pick your targets. Dive, engage, zoom up smoothly (to not lose a lot of speed) then rinse and repeat. If there are multiple enemies above you, don't engage and keep flying straight. If there is one enemy above you in the vicinity, you can engage, but don't pull up hard or you will lose a lot of speed in the process! Do it smoothly. If you are generally low on speed and you can escape from enemies, keep flying straight until you're fast, zoom up then loop around and keep flying straight at the altitude you went up to then resume the strict Boom & Zoom procedure.

The F-86A-5 is not an air superiority fighter, it's more of a support plane despite being a Sabre. Tactics explained in "General playstyle".

All top rank jets are a threat. All of them have better performance overall especially in acceleration, climb rate and energy retention.

For those who may have a PAGENAME on their tail, if you're in an emergency (a situation where nothing that was explained works), resort to defensive flying. The defensive flying capabilities of the A-5 Sabre are very high and extremely good due to its roll rate. Most of the time, top rank jet pilots will Boom & Zoom you which can be a problem for you, however, if they decide to stick around and dogfight you, you will have the advantage.

The F-86 is considered one of the best fighter jets of the Korean War. It is the most-produced Western fighter, with almost 10,000 aircraft produced by the US, Australia, Canada (as the re-engined CL-13), Italy, and Japan.

The F-86 was developed by North American Aviation, the creator of the venerable P-51 Mustang. The XP-86 prototype was created to meet the USAF requirement for a high-altitude escort fighter. It was derived from the Navy's FJ-1 Fury, a transitional fighter jet that borrowed the wings, tail surfaces and canopy from the P-51D. The XP-86 was under threat of cancellation because the XP-80 and XP-84 had similar performance characteristics and were farther ahead in development. However, North American designers made a radical change to the design and replaced the straight wing with a swept wing, which was shown by seized German research to greatly reduce drag and increase performance at high speed. The resulting performance boost was so significant that the swept-wing prototype of the XP-86 was supposedly able to break the sound barrier in a dive a few days before Chuck Yeager made his official attempt.

The F-86A-5 is the first operational variant of the F-86. It is powered by the General Electric J47 engine and includes slats on the leading edge of the wing derived from the Messerschmitt Me 262 to increase low-speed performance. It is armed with six M3 .50 (12.7 mm) electrically boosted machine guns firing at 1,200 rounds per minute. It can carry eight 5" rockets, 2,000 lb of bombs, or a pair of external fuel tanks that can be jettisoned in-flight to increase performance in combat. While most of the F-86As had a Mark 18 manual ranging-computing gun sight, the last 24 F-86A-5-NAs were equipped with the A-1CM gun sight, which used radar to automatically compute a target's range. This later became standard on the F-86E.

In-game description
"An all-metal monoplane jet fighter with swept wings.

The development of the Sabre began in the autumn of 1944 as a modification of the NA-134 shipboard fighter. In November 1944, North-American presented its plan for a daytime fighter to the United States Army Air Forces (USAAF): the NA-140 model, based on the NA-134 and later given the designation of XP-86. It was decided in the design process that the XP-86 would feature the more promising swept wings instead of straight ones. The prototype Sabre XP-86, built with swept wings, first flew on October 1, 1947.

The first production model of the Sabre was the Р-86А (manufacturer number NA-151). In June 1948, the aircraft was given the new designation of F-86A. It was fitted with a General Electric J47-GE-1 (-3, -7) turbojet engine producing 2,360 kg of thrust.

The aircraft's armament consisted of six 12.7mm Browning M3.5 machine guns with 1,800 total rounds of ammunition. The distinctive features of the production model were a curved windscreen and flaps over the machine gun firing ports, which could be closed by means of an electric motor. The first production Р-86А-1 took off on 20 May 1948. Most of the F-86А-1s were used to perform various tests and were not delivered to the front.

The F-86A-5 (NA-151) was the first real combat Sabre with a J47-GE-7 engine. It was produced for the first time on February 23, 1949. This model had a new windscreen, and the closeable flaps of the machine gun firing ports were removed to simplify maintenance. The cockpit canopy could be jettisoned if necessary. Two 780-liter fuel tanks could be mounted on the underwing pylons. Instead of fuel tanks, the aircraft could carry a combat load, which usually consisted of two 100-lb (45-kg), 500-lb (227-kg) or 1,000-lb (454-kg) bombs, two 375-kg tanks filled with napalm, or two 220-kg bomb clusters. Guide rails could also be mounted to hold eight unguided 5-inch HVAR rockets under each wing.

A contract to deliver the next batch of the F-86As was signed in May 1948. These aircraft were still designated as F-86A-5s but they were named NA-161s at the plant, as they had a number of differences from previous series. In particular, they were equipped with a J47-GE-13 engine. Deliveries of this batch began in October 1949 and were finished in December of the following year.

The last 24 F-86A-5s had a new A-1CM sight coupled with an AN/APG-30 radar ranging unit. The planes originally equipped with the А-1СМ were designated as F-86A-6s, and those retrofitted on site were designated as F-86A-7s.

The first USAAF military unit that received the F-86A was the 94th FS (Fighter Squadron) of the 1st FW (Fighter Wing). The pilots in the unit nicknamed the new fighter the Sabre.

The F-86A fighters took part in the Korean War, making their first combat flight on December 17, 1950. Compared to its main opponent, the Mikoyan-Gurevich MiG-15 fighter, the Sabre's flight characteristics were somewhat better at low altitude, but it was inferior to the MiG in its rate of climbing, service ceiling, speed at high altitude, and armament. However, the Sabre's main advantage was its sight, equipped with a radar ranging unit that enabled more accurately aimed fire when maneuvering at high speeds.

The total number of the F-86A aircraft constructed was 554, and they served only with the USAF and the Air National Guard (ANG)."

=== Survivability and armour ===

* 12 mm steel - engine
* 20 mm composite boron-carbide - pilot/gunner seats

When fighting the AH-1G, it is always a good bet to get the "High Ground" or altitude advantage of this vehicle. Try to strafe it and get around to its blinds spot, as it can't use the tail rotor effectively when moving. Always aim for the cockpit, as one the gunner is knocked out the turret becomes unusable. When coming up against a Cobra with gun pods, or and secondary weapons, know that the pilot can still fire these even if the Gunner in knocked out.

Armaments
Offensive armament
M134 Minigun (7.62 mm)
The AH-1G can carry up to 4 x 7.62 mm miniguns with a very generous ammo supply allowing it to put out an extremely dense amount of fire over an extended period. This should be used to the pilot's advantage when engaging enemy aircraft in the skies.

Suspended armament
FFAR Mighty Mouse

* 28 x FFAR Mighty Mouse rockets
* 76 x FFAR Mighty Mouse rockets
* 2 x 7.62 mm M134 Minigun machine gun (3,000 rpg)
* 1 x 20 mm M195 cannon (1,500 rpg)
* 2 x 7.62 mm M134 Minigun machine gun (3,000 rpg) + 14 x FFAR Mighty Mouse rockets
* 2 x 7.62 mm M134 Minigun machine gun (3,000 rpg) + 38 x FFAR Mighty Mouse rockets

Unlike other AH series helicopters, the AH-1G can equip either two 7.62 mm Miniguns or one 20 mm Gatling gun as suspended armaments. The minigun can pack a real punch when engaging enemy helicopters due to their light armour, however, the one drawback will be the pilot will have to deal with the massive recoil from the fast rate of fire.

The AH-1G can also serve in a ground pounding role by equipping FFAR rockets that can reload quite quickly while still being able to defend itself with its turret miniguns. While the AH1G cannot carry as much ordinance as its Soviet counterparts, it can defend itself very well and even equip suspended armament such as rockets, something which the Soviet choppers cannot do until BR 9.7.

Usage in battles
In helicopter battles, the AH-1G serves best in an anti-air role by combating other enemy helicopters. Due to being the only dedicated attack helicopter for the first half of the USA helicopter tree, it serves as the backbone for eliminating enemy air threats for US pilots until the AH-1F and AH-1Z become researchable.

The AH-1G is sluggish when it comes to climbing rate. This results in the vehicle being very manoeuvrable at low altitudes. Players should always save rockets for enemy vehicles that need it.

In-ground realistic battle, the AH-1G has the best loadout for 8.0 helicopter. The twin 40 mm grenade launcher is the best for dealing with tanks at a close range battle but should be very careful of any tanks or SPAA.

Pros and cons
Pros:

* Two miniguns have a very high rate of fire
* Fairly small target due to its small width dimension
* Can equip several Hydra rocket pods, miniguns, and cannon as payload
* Miniguns do not jam unlike conventional guns
* Twin 40mm grenade launchers are very effective against a tank, even at high ranks
* Has the best CAS capability for a starting helicopter

Cons:

* Limited traverse for the miniguns
* Does not have any guided munitions
* The 20 mm cannon gunpod has a lot of recoil which can throw your aim off
* 40mm grenade has a slow travel speed, the pilot has to aim away from the enemy to hit
* Slow climb rate if using a heavy payload

Parallel to the development of the UH-1 transport helicopter, Bell was actively conducting research on helicopter gunship designs. This resulted in the creation of the “Iroquois Warrior”, a mockup of a gunship design based on components from the UH-1B Huey. The mockup was presented to interested Army officials in June 1962, resulting in a proof-of-concept contract later that year. Following the contract award, Bell created the Model 207 “Sioux Scout”, which was evaluated by the Army in early 1964.

Although impressed by the Model 207, the Army sought a larger and more powerful design, resulting in the creation of a new competition of which Bell was not a part of. Instead, Bell independently continued developing and refining their gunship design, eventually creating the Model 209 - a design that was a combination of the Iroquois Warrior mockup and the concepts behind the Model 207.

Meanwhile, the ongoing Vietnam War sparked an urgent demand for dedicated attack helicopters. Although gunship versions of the UH-1 performed this role with relative success, the fact that they weren’t initially intended for this role somewhat limited their effectiveness. Back in the States, the Army’s ongoing competition produced no winning design as a result of technical and political difficulties. To quickly address their demand, the Army started looking for an interim design to act as a stopgap measure in 1965.

Soon after testing of the Model 209 concluded in September 1965, the Army decided to award Bell with a manufacturing contract later that year. The contract officially put the Model 209 into production under the Army designation of UH-1H Huey Cobra but was later redesignated to AH-1G Cobra.

The AH-1G Cobra entered service with the U.S. Army in 1967, participating mainly through the remainder of the Vietnam War as well as other conflicts. The AH-1G was retired from active service in the early 1980s, being replaced by newer models of the Cobra.
