History

In a rare case of collaboration between the Imperial Japanese Army and Imperial Japanese Navy, both used the MG 15 machine gun made under license by Nagoya Army Arsenal with slight differences. The Army variant, designated the Type 98, had a second handgrip unlike the Navy's Type 1. The Type 98 is used onboard aircraft such as the Ki-45. It would also see service after World War II by the Korean's People Army during the Korean War.
