The P-51H-5NA is a Rank IV American fighter with a battle rating of 6.3. It was introduced in Update 1.71 "New E.R.A."

The most striking features on the P-51H-5 N/A are its Propeller, Fuselage, and Tail Fin.

The Tail is very tall making its profile a little more unique.
The Fuselage of the aircraft is much deeper than its predecessor's. The Radiator on the bottom of the aircraft makes it look even deeper.
The propeller on the P-51H-5 is a Paddle Blade. This design was based on the principle of a larger area of air being pushed back when the propeller moved through it. This increased speed but the torque was immense, due to there being more weight.

Pros and cons

Pros:

  • Speed:
    • Very fast, a spaded P-51H can catch many jets at some altitudes.
    • Excellent high-altitude performance.
    • Excellent climb rate with WEP.
    • Can safely dive up to 845 km/h.
  • Armament:
    • Familiar M2 Browning machine guns from the P-51D.
    • Potent belt loadouts.
    • Does not require much trigger discipline.
  • Maneuverability
    • Excellent turn rate, rivaling that of the Spitfire F Mk. 24. Gets exponentially better with combat flaps and at higher speeds.
    • Combat flaps can be used up to 650 km/h.

Cons:

  • Match making:
    • The P-51H can face jets in full uptiers.
  • Armament:
    • M2 Brownings lack the rate of fire for high-speed combat.
    • Single hits may not critically damage other aircraft.
  • Engine
    • Only has 7 minutes of WEP.
    • Without WEP the P-51H can no longer effectively climb nor dogfight.
  • Crew:
    • A stock crew will black out and lose stamina often in high-speed turns.

Pros

  • Improved shells over "M2 Early", especially with full M20 "Tracer" belt
  • Very high shell velocity
    • Accurate.
    • Easy to lead shots with.
  • More powerful than the .30 cals.
  • High rate of fire, though lower than the .30 cals.
  • Tracer rounds have a high chance of causing fires.
  • Typically loaded with large belt sizes to allow for prolonged bursts.

Cons

  • Less burst damage than cannons.
  • Short bursts and grazes do not typically cripple enemy planes if critical areas aren't hit.
  • Like the .30 cals, default belts usually contain ball ammunition.
  • Lacking armour-penetration capabilities of cannons.
