Once you are in a good position to attack you must get as close as possible to the target without getting destroyed. To do this you must be constantly observing the position of the turrets of the target (is it shooting other ships? is it looking for a target?..etc) as well as the state of their secondary or antiaircraft guns (is it engaging planes, boats or innactive?) and triying not to fire towards him as your guns will only give away your presence. Once you are so close you think you can score a hit launch a torpedo to the place the thorpedo mechanic tells you to fire and the other tho the place you think the enemy will move its ship to dodge the torpedo. Right after doing that go back to cover as fast as possible using smoke to conceal you or another boat doing a torpedo run.

Description

The Velocissimo Classe 500, MAS 561 is a rank I Italian motor torpedo boat with a battle rating of 1.0 (AB/RB/SB). It was introduced in Update "Raining Fire".

General info

Survivability and armour

Armourfront / side / back
Hull40 mm (wood)
Superstructure15 mm (wood)

Talk about the vehicle's armour. Note the most well-defended and most vulnerable zones, e.g. the ammo magazine. Evaluate the composition of components and assemblies responsible for movement and manoeuvrability. Evaluate the survivability of the primary and secondary armaments separately. Don't forget to mention the size of the crew, which plays an important role in fleet mechanics. Save tips on preserving survivability for the "Usage in battles" section. If necessary, use a graphical template to show the most well-protected or most vulnerable points in the armour.

Armament

Primary armament

Turret20 mm/65 Breda anti-aircraft gun
Ammunition1500 rounds
Belt capacity12 rounds
Fire rate240 shots/min
Vertical guidance-10° / 90°
2 х Turret12.7 mm Breda-SAFAT heavy machine gun
Ammunition2000 rounds
Belt capacity50 rounds
Fire rate701 shots/min
Vertical guidance-10° / 65°

Provide information about the characteristics of the primary armament. Evaluate their efficacy in battle based on their reload speed, ballistics and the capacity of their shells. Add a link to the main article about the weapon: {{main|Weapon name (calibre)}}. Broadly describe the ammunition available for the primary armament, and provide recommendations on how to use it and which ammunition to choose.

Additional armament

Setup 12 x 450 mm steam turbined W.200/450X5,75 torpedo
Setup 22 x B TG depth charge
Setup 32 x 450 mm steam turbined W.200/450X5,75 torpedo
2 x B TG depth charge

Describe the available additional armaments of the ship: depth charges, mines, torpedoes. Talk about their positions, available ammunition and launch features such as dead zones of torpedoes. If there is no additional armament, remove this section.

Usage in battles

To engage other small ships it is better to maximize your firepower shooting from your sides so you can use the machineguns and the 20mm at the same time.

To engage strafing aircraft move in the same direction of the aircraft, fix the camera on him, go to the binocular view and lead your fire to the engine of the plane or cockpit if its a twin engine plane. Once you destroyed it or if you are not able to hit it change direction with a sharp turn as the plane is usually not as maneuverable as the boat he can no longer lean its machine gun fire towwards you.

To engage larger ships such as destroyers you should use the map islands (the terrain in general) and ally destroyers to hide yourself. It is useful to think a route to your target or destination(capture point, ambush position...) right from the start having all the present cover of the map and allies into account.

Pros and cons

Pros:

  • Adequate speed
  • High crew count increases survivability
  • Adequate firing arcs

Cons:

  • No armour
  • The 20 mm has small magazines and slow fire rate

History

Describe the history of the creation and combat usage of the ship in more detail than in the introduction. If the historical reference turns out to be too long, take it to a separate article, taking a link to the article about the ship and adding a block "/History" (example: https://wiki.warthunder.com/(Ship-name)/History) and add a link to it here using the main template. Be sure to reference text and sources by using <ref></ref>, as well as adding them at the end of the article with <references />. This section may also include the ship's dev blog entry (if applicable) and the in-game encyclopedia description (under === In-game description ===, also if applicable).

Media

Excellent additions to the article would be video guides, screenshots from the game, and photos.
